Date of Meeting: 06/11/18
We have selected Daniel J. McCoy, Jr. for the crossing guard of the year. Daniel has served as a crossing guard since 9/2/2008.
Daniel works at Unquowa Road and Mill Plain Road, which is one of our busiest intersections.
He also received a letter of recognition for his quick actions in 2015 when a student was struck by a car, about a 1/2 a block from his post. Daniel and his partner called 911 and ran to assist the injured student. They covered the student with a blanket to keep her warm, and protected the scene until police arrived. Daniel also was credited with comforting the driver, who was in near hysterics because they stuck a child. The student sustained a broken hip and other non-life threatening injuries in the incident.
He is at work every day, carries himself with pride and professionalism and has a great demeanor. The students all say great things about him.
In closing, please make a special effort to attend our meeting this Monday, to celebrate and congratulate Daniel for receiving this award of recognition!
