Date of Meeting: 10/30/17
A unique program for October 30th given by Peter Van Heerden, Director of the Quick Center for the Arts. Peter will deliver a moving presentation titled: WAR STORIES: A Veterans Project. There are a total of 16 men and women associated with this storytelling project, and two of them will accompany Peter on Monday, and speak as well. Their appearance will give us a little insight into the whole program.
Background about this performance project: Using Courageous Storytelling as an entry point, this important and timely project employs and empowers a core group of homeless Veterans to develop the performance work WAR STORIES. It¹s THEIR Lives. THEIR Stories. THEIR Voices. A unique collaborative project, WAR STORIES: A Veterans Project gives voice to the voiceless. Homeless Veterans from ARBI/Homes for the Brave to share their stories in a full-length performance work.
Bold monologues based on the real-life experiences of veterans, as they battle with addiction, homelessness, loves and losses, are the basis for WAR STORIES: A Veterans Project, a unique theater event that moved and humbled audiences when it premiered to sold out houses at the Quick Center for the Arts on the campus of Fairfield University on March 31.
This presentation is right in the center of Rotary’s wheelhouse and I hope you can attend on Monday. Please invite colleagues, friends and family, to hear from veterans who experienced war first-hand, their own special story.
