(Fairfield, CT) — The Town of Fairfield and the Rotary Club of Fairfield will hold a dedication ceremony for a new Rotary Peace Pole at the Fairfield Police Department on Monday, September 21, 2026, at Noon.
The ceremony coincides with the United Nations International Day of Peace, observed annually on September 21st to promote the ideals of peace, understanding, and nonviolence throughout the world.
First Selectperson Christine Vitale, Police Chief of Police Michael Paris, and Fairfield Rotary President Tom Sansone will participate in the ceremony, along with Town officials, members of the Fairfield Police Department, Rotarians, and community residents.

First Selectperson Christine Vitale, Police Chief of Police Michael Paris, and Fairfield Rotary President Tom Sansone will participate in the ceremony, along with Town officials, members of the Fairfield Police Department, Rotarians, and community residents.
A Peace Pole is an internationally recognized symbol of hope and unity. Fairfield’s pole will display four universal messages:
“May Peace Prevail on Earth.”
“May Peace Be in Our Community.”
“May Peace Be in Our Schools.”
“May Peace Be in Our Homes.”
The placement of the Peace Pole at the Fairfield Police Department recognizes the important connection between peace, public safety and community partnership.
The Rotary Club of Fairfield donated the Peace Pole as part of its continuing commitment to the community. Founded in 1939, Fairfield Rotary has provided 87 years of service to the Town through support to local nonprofit organizations, veterans and young people; community grants; programs addressing hunger and food insecurity; and numerous civic and charitable initiatives. And most recently through its Jetty Jam beach event, with all proceeds from this event going toward the purchase of major kitchen appliances for the New Operation Hope facility to be built in Fairfield.
“For 87 years, Fairfield Rotary has brought Rotarians and neighbors together to serve our community,” Rotary President Tom Sansone said. “This Peace Pole continues that tradition. It is more than a monument—it is a lasting reminder that every one of us has a role in creating a safer, kinder and more peaceful community.”
The dedication ceremony will include remarks from First Selectperson Vitale, Chief Paris and President Sansone; Rotarian john Lee and the official unveiling; and a community moment of silence for peace.
Members of the public are invited to attend.
